Near the centre of Hiroshima Prefecture, surrounded by mountains, is the town of Sera. With a population of around 16,000, it is on the surface a sleepy little location. However, what Sera offers is not situated in the middle of the town, but surrounding it on all sides. From spring to autumn the surrounding area is transformed into a sea of colours and fragrances. From cherry blossoms to tulips, sunflowers to lavender, strawberries to nashi (pears) - the fields around the town provide an ever-changing seasonal vista. Whether as a day or an overnight trip, Sera is a great place to visit if you want to take a break from the hustle and bustle of Hiroshima City and see a different side of Japan.
