OITA PREFECTURE

Best known for the hot spring resorts of Beppu, Oita Prefecture - located on the eastern coast of Kyushu - is a wonderful destination for visitors. Its coast is dotted with pretty locations such as the small town of Kitsuki, where samurai mansions and a tiny castle overlook distinctive paved slopes and the Pacific Ocean.
