TOKUSHIMA PREFECTURE

Located on the eastern end of Shikoku Island, Tokushima Prefecture is linked to Honshu Island by bridge, and is popular as a starting point for the island-wide pilgrimage route that takes in the many temples that dot Shikoku. Tokushima City is most famous for its Awa-Odori, a unique costumed dance held during the mid-August obon holiday. Away from the prefectural capital, Miyoshi is a must-visit for its mountains and outdoor activities.
