OGASAWARA

Officially part of Tokyo Prefecture, but approximately a one-thousand-kilometre, 24-hour boat ride away from the metropolis, Chichijima of the Ogasawara island chain is a paradise of exquisite white beaches, steep cliffs, unique sea life, and tropical fruits.
Despite these features, Chichijima is far from comparable to a luxury subtropical resort, and that is where its charm lies. The island used to be uninhabited, and even now it retains a sense of cultural isolation which the villagers are keen to maintain.
