SAGAE寒河江市
Sagae is a small town situated in the middle of Yamagata Prefecture, and is most famous for its delicious, homegrown cherries.
Wherever you go in the town, you will find pictures of cherries in every shape and size. These fruits originated from Turkey and were exported to Europe and the Americas, before finally hitting the Sagae area of Japan. To commemorate this, the streets are filled with Turkish and Japanese flags aligned side by side. The locals are very proud of their ‘Cherry Culture’, and you are bound to be blown away by how tasty their cherry products can be.
